Elise, Environmental Warrior
Elise Morris grew up close to the land. Three generations of her family worked a farm together in her early years. They raised a variety of livestock including beef cattle, ducks, chickens, turkeys, pigs and a pet sheep. Even after leaving the “farm” her family continued to grow and forage their own food. That is a tradition she carries today. Though now you will find her native plants are equally as important as her fruit and veggie crops.
Elise cares deeply about the environment and has mastered the practice of reduce-reuse-recycle. We knew she would fit right in when we interviewed her in September of 2025. She joined our team eager to learn about all the different types of fiber and quickly figured out the best way to care for each breed as they move through the wash phase. Bless her, she loves to wash sheepskin. With 1000 different breeds of sheep worldwide, you can imagine washing sheepskin is the most difficult part of our job. You have to know how fiber is going to react in water with agitation. Some fibers felt very easily and need to be handled with great care while others are more forgiving.
We are so grateful Elise answered our ad last fall. She has become an integral part of Team Driftless.
